Thinking about going back for one more on TIG Groove welding. What I really liked was the school staff became very interested in my need to weld a boiler an tailored my training for my needs.

Just be sure to wear your PPE it's a bit tuff today to go to a swap meet and get a new eye or two . I have learned a few tricks through the years of welding pipe and boiler fixtures, auto repairs and such .

We got there this moring and found a 1/4" hole in the bottom next to a handway. We drained it down and removed the handway. we then drove a drift punch in the hole and welded around it.

CC stick machines are used. I haven't used a thunderbolt for Tig but I have a 80 Amp thermal dynamics machine I made some Tig welds with that turned out OK.

For field welding and for piping and pressure vessel/boiler repair work, we still use mainly stick welding. If I do stick welding in my own shop, or in the field, I use one of my Lincoln engine driven welders.
